1. Complete a research paper analyzing a relevant issue or problem related to intellectual property, cyberspace, or technology law. The paper must adhere to the Upper Level Writing requirement standards and can be used to satsify that requirement. (This requirement applies to students who begin their second year in fall 2007 or thereafter.)
2. Apply for the certificate at the beginning of your last semester, on or before the last day to add a class in that semester.
3. Achieve a C+ or higher in each IP course and a cumulative GPA of 2.700 or higher for all courses applied to the certificate.
4. Course Requirements: 15 units of IP course work, subject to the following:
Core Courses – Complete at least two of the following courses: Copyright Law, Cyberspace Law,
Intellectual Property Survey, Patent Law, and Trademark Law
Elective Courses – Complete the remaining units by taking additional core courses and/or by taking courses
selected from among the approved electives listed below. (Approved electives are coded “9” in the course schedule.) Not every course is offered every academic year.
